Abstract

Soils derived from volcanic ash and pumice have unique and common properties. Afforestation with conifers is an important part of the current management on such soils. Its consequences on soil pH and bulk density are considered in this study. Sustained and enhanced forest soil productivity requires a better understanding of soil properties and behavior under various management regimes.
