Abstract
In Chile, Pinus radiata D. Don and logs lumber are intensely and frequently attacked by blue-stain, and therefore its final presentation is impaired, thus limiting its exporting possibilities.
The objetive of the present study was to determite the causal agent of this alteration. For this purpose samples were collected from stained wood from different places of the Valdivia province.
All samples had the same organism, which was considered as a strongly staining fungus with a great penetration power. All the described characteristics indicate that the causal agent is Ceratocystis pilifera (Fries) C. Moreau.
