Abstract

In eight forest nurseries from the Tent h Region of Chile, dampedoff seedlings and t h e soil containing the m were sampled periodically during the yea r 1975. The scope was to obtain an spectrum of the organism associated with the damage.
From damaged—sections of seedlings a n d soil particles treated according the soil washing technique , pur e cultures were obtained which allowed the identification of twent y fructificating strains and some micelia withou t sporulation.
The influence of isolation techniques, media , use of fungicides an d the effect of antagoni c organisms in the lack of isolation of usual species in forest nurseries is discussed.
