Abstract

This paper presents an ecological analysis of the native forest at Fundo Escuadrón located in Comuna Coronel, Concepción, Bio-Bio region, Chile. The climate is mediterranean with 887.5 mm of total annual rainfall occurring during the cold season; mean annual temperature is 11.9 C. Soils are shollow and highly erodible, with a loamyclayly-sandy texture; pH is 6.6; and organic matter is scarce.
Results of structural analysis of the vegetation show a Valdivian type forest of high variability, represented by the association Lapagerio-Aextoxiconetum punctatii composed of 25 tree species of 15 genus, belonging to 19 botany families.
